Welcome to Love What You Do -- A podcast that celebrates the community of Interior Design and its undeniable connection to optimism. Through stories, insights, and honest conversations, we explore what really changes when you love what you do. In this introduction, host Doug Shapiro shares why this show exists, what drives it, and who it’s for.
The first thing I want you to know is this. I love what I do, and I just want to take a minute to tell you why this podcast exists, why we're doing all this. I. Honestly, it's just a gift. It's a gift to the industry that's given so much to our community and to me personally. I'm a better person for being in this industry.
I'm a better person for knowing the stories of so many of those that I've come across in this 20 years. And I think we're all better the more we share. I've met incredible people, dealers, designers, reps, even competitors, and I'm always fascinated by this question, what makes them really love what they do?
What keeps them curious? What keeps them in it, even when it's hard? Look, this industry is full of creative minds and thoughtful people. Really funny people too, but it's their stories that I've been drawn to. What shaped them, what they believe, and how they think. That's the stuff that matters. That's the stuff we're trying to capture because I believe that's the stuff that inspires.
And if I can give you just a little bit of that, just some honest, fresh perspective, maybe some new ideas or a shift in how you can see things, then it's all worth it. I'm just genuinely interested in people and I hope that comes through on this podcast. So this. Podcast is for you all. It's for the people who build, who design, create, who think, who help make the spaces of our lives better.
And it's for the ones who might need a little reminder of why they love what they do. So if optimism is not your thing, this is not your podcast. Otherwise, welcome to the show.
